St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta said, “Keep the joy of loving God in your heart and share this joy with all you meet, especially your family.” As conscientious parents, you are serious about your children growing strong in the Catholic faith. Mary, Mother of the Church Parish School of Religion is privileged to support you in sharing the love of God with your children.
The PSR program is designed to assist families of children in grades 1 through 8 attending public school in their religious education. The curriculum presents the teachings of the Catholic Church using age-appropriate materials. PSR sessions are for 60 minutes from 6:30-7:30 pm on Monday or Wednesday evening from September thru early May. You may also choose to home-school. Because second and eighth grades are sacramental years, the children in these grades benefit attending in-person classes for sacramental preparation.
In a PSR session, we lead our children through faith and prayer to see the Lord in their lives at home, at Church, and in the world. When our children gather on Monday or Wednesday, they are invited to know, love, and serve the Lord.
PSR sessions are only a part of the formation of young Catholics in our parish spirituality. What happens in a PSR session can only take root if the following aspects of our Parish Life are met:
ALL OF THE ABOVE tell the child that "faith" is important to parents and something the child can gradually come to see as worthwhile for himself or herself.
Your Sunday Offering is the primary means of support for our PSR. We encourage families to be generous in giving to God what belongs to God. There is no tuition for our PSR. Simply use your Sunday envelope or OSV Online Giving. We ask that all PSR households contribute a minimum of $15.00 per week.
Parish School of Religion Registration forms are emailed in May to the families of those previously registered.
If you are a new family to the program, you can register online for PSR using the link on this page, or contact the Director of Faith Formation (314-894-1373 ext 218) for more information.
